Scout is a fairly normal sixteen year old girl. She likes hanging out with her best friends, wandering around Vancouver and writing her stories. She has a close relationship with her teacher, Coleman and her bestfriend is Brandon.

Scout and her Socials teacher, Coleman have always been closer then most students and teachers. They formed a bond when Scout's mum moved to Toronto and left Scout with her dad, his wife and her younger half sister. Scout was feeling very lonely and Coleman was the only person that would listen. Around this time she also developed insomnia and nightmares. Scout and Coleman soon got close, Scout would talk to him about her family life and he would tell her about stuff in his life and his childhood. Scout tried to fight her feelings but she fell in love with Coleman, even though she knows nothing could happen.

Their relationship developes over the course of the year. In The Party at the end of the night she bumps into Coleman on the street and kisses him. In Jacqueline rumours start to spred about Coleman and Scout and their relationship gets even more complicated. Scout finds out it was Alexis who spred the rumours and gets into a fight with her. Coleman never gets in trouble for what was said, but the two agree to spend less time together.

In Fieldtrip while on a camping trip with their class, Scout walks in on Coleman and Kate having sex in his tent. She gets very shocked and upset and doesn't talk to Coleman for awhile. She acts like nothing is wrong towards him, but it visibly upset. Between 13 and Queen of Hearts they don't have any scenes together. In Coleman's episode To Sir, With Love they start talking again. Fyfe is now living with Coleman. Scout goes over to see Fyfe and she sees her brother, Ben smoking crack with Coleman. Scout is surprised and upset because Ben was supposed to be drug free. At the end of the episode Ben dies of a drug overdose. Scout just runs and runs.

Scout is really mad and upset at Coleman. She refuses to talk to him at all because she blames him for her brothers death. She stops going to school all together and conColemaners running away. In Raised by Another Coleman comes to her house to talk to her. She screams and yells at him for killing Ben, and she finally breaks down. She confesses she loves him and they kiss passionatly and then hug. In Goodbye Song Coleman drives Scout to the train station because she is going to Toronto to stay with her mother for awhile. They share a nice moment together.

Scout and Brandon are bestfriends. According to Scout, they first became friends in kindergarten. Brandon kisses her and she punched him and ever since then they have been best friends.

Scout and Brandon treat each other like friends and only friends. They admitted they tried practicing kissing once when they were 13 but it felt too weird. People call them 'the married couple' and they refer to each other like brothers and sisters. Nothing has ever come between them until Brandon starts going out with Lydia. It puts a huge hole in their friendship. Brandon starts spending most of his time with Lydia. Brandon invites Scout over to his house, but she finds out Lydia is there and they end up making out the whole time. Scout gets pissed and her and Brandon have their first real big fight. At the end of To Sir, With Love Scout's brother Ben dies and Scout goes ballistic. Scout misses a week of school and then at school the next week everyone is sitting on the grass but Scout just looks dead and spacey. All of a sudden she gets up and runs, runs and runs and Brandon runs after her. She goes to the graveyard and Scout collapses in his arms infront of Ben's grave. After that their friendship is back to normal, but Scout is still visibly upset.

Ben Taylor is Scout's older half-brother. They have the same dad, Mac Taylor but different mums. Ben is 25. Before Ben comes to live with Scout, they never saw much of each other, only on holidays and family gatherings. Ben had been in and out of rehab and jail since he was 17. He was addicted to herion. He moved into the Taylor house because his mum kicked him out, school kicked him out and he's unable to get a job. Scout is unsure what to think of Ben when he moves in but they soon form a close bond. Ben is determined to get his life back on track and he is very protective of her.

In To Sir, With Love Coleman and Ben become sort of friends. Ben goes over to Colemans to tell him to stay away from Scout, but they become pals. Coleman gets some cocaine and him and Ben do lines. Soon after that Scout notices that Ben is acting kind of weird but doesn't say anything. Fyfe is still living at Colemans. The gang is on their way to a party and they make Scout go get Fyfe. The door is open to their apartment so she walks in calling Fyfe's name. She walks into the living room where she sees Ben and Coleman doing lines together. Scout is shocked and pulls Fyfe out of the apartment. They into Danny's car and Scout asks him to drop her off at home, she just started feeling sick.

Ben comes home and talks to Scout. She says to him "Ben, its your choice what you want to do with your life, I was just hoping you wouldn't want to do this." At the end of the episode Scout finds Ben dead from a drug overdose.
